| The members of The Middle East hail from Townsville, Australia, a town situated in the far north of the country and adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef. It is here that the band created and recorded the five songs that make up the Recordings Of The Middle East.
Originally released by the band in 2008, the EP was re-released in Australia by independent label Spunk Records in mid-2009. The release was made available in North America both physically and digitally on October 27th. The beautiful and animated video for the song “Blood” is a perfect example of the imagery and magical fantasy world that The Middle East’s music lives in. To view the “Blood” video, go to http://www.myspace.com/visitthemiddleeast In the months since the Australian re-release of the EP, The Middle East have undertaken their own sell-out headline tour, performed at the Splendour in the Grass Festival, and have played alongside the likes of Augie March, Okkervil River, Doves and Bill Callahan. The Middle East’s music combines gentle harmonies with subtle and intricate arrangements. We are excited to share to the world the arrival of this special band. |
